This satellite image 2004 shows Junipers occuring at over 1800 masl approximately 20kms north of Shah Maqsud Shrine (northeast of Kandahar). The Juniper species mentioned on the previous page are included in the International Union for Conservation of Nature's Red List of Threatened Species in 2011. The two images compare the distribution of Juniper trees as (dark dots) occuring in 2004 and 2018. Despite the lack of regenration the population appears stable over this period.
